This holiday season, families are invited to experience the joy and wonder of the holidays at the Black Santa event in Cincinnati. Taking place on December 7, at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center from noon to 4 p.m., this cherished annual tradition is a unique opportunity for children and families to engage with a representation of Santa that reflects the community’s diversity.
Children of all ages can share their holiday wishes and take a professional photo with Black Santa. The festive atmosphere includes a DJ, sponsors’ activities, and special programs to spread holiday cheer. As part of the celebration, guests can explore the museum.
Black Santa is more than a holiday icon; he represents inclusion, belonging, and the joy of seeing diverse traditions celebrated. This event is designed to create lasting memories while affirming the importance of representation in holiday celebrations.
Rules to Remember:
- Santa, featured in the photo, will not be in attendance.
- One photo per adult in the group.
- Parents/guardians must sign the media release to see Santa or provide proof that a child is in foster care.
- We extended the event hours to accommodate more families and reduce wait time.
- All photos will be posted on The Voice of Black Cincinnati’s Facebook page after the event.
Admission to Black Santa
Photos with Black Santa and related activities are free and provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Remember, Black Santa returns to the North Pole promptly at 4 p.m., so guests are encouraged to plan accordingly.

The main museum entrance is on the first floor, facing the riverfront on East Freedom Way. An accessible public garage is adjacent to the museum, and limited, metered street parking is available nearby. Use as appropriate. Arrive using .

Visitors can access each floor of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center via elevator. Accessible restrooms are available on the first, third, and fourth floors of the museum. Wheelchairs and Electronic Convenience Vehicles (ECVs) can be rented from the front desk on a first-come, first-served basis.
