About this Event
This symposium is a significant gathering of scholars and artists dedicated to exploring the intersections of Black queer identity and social dance in the context of Atlanta.
The symposium is organized under the auspices of Slippage: Performance | Culture | Technology, a research lab founded by Scholar-Artist-Professor Thomas F. DeFrantz.
Supported by a Mellon grant, Slippage’s symposium in Atlanta attends to the stories of those who have worked in the shadows, thereby centering the exploration of identity, and especially racialized identities as embodied expressions of historical lineage and future imaginings. In that context, we are excited to have you witness these critical discourses focused on the ways in which Black, Black-Queer dance and social structures compel or resist a geography of freedom.
