About this Event
Sovereignty is at the heart of both of our protests; and it is why even when there seems to be no hope, we are still able to resist. - Amy McQuire, The Sunday Paper
This event brings together communities to celebrate and deepen the solidarity between Blackfullas and Palestinians.
Solidarity is not only drawn from a shared experience of colonial state violence, but shared resistance. From Invasion Day protests to the Unity Intifada, Blackfullas and Palestinians are connected by their sovereign embodiment of the lands and communities they fight to liberate.
In the tradition of anti-colonial resistance in Palestine and so-called Australia, we gather on unceded Yuggera/Jagera land to hear from prominent thinkers and activists, share food, song and stories.
The evening will begin with a Welcome to Country, followed by a panel featuring Prof Chelsea Watego, Dr Ramzy Baroud and Amy McQuire, moderated by Jamal Nabulsi.
We'll have halal dinner (vegetarian, vegan, gf available), followed by tea and coffee alongside beats from SOLCHLD and stalls from local community and activist groups.
