With a career spanning 20+ years, Black Milk has amassed an impressive catalog as both a rapper and producer. After scoring his first production credit with fellow Detroit artists Slum Village as a teenager in 2002, he eventually worked closely with the group

and co-produced much of their three following albums. His self-released, full-length project Sound of the City (2005) led to his first independent record deal, and he began to gain international attention for his soul-sample-driven style on his proper debut Popular Demand (2007).
Eight additional solo rap projects, four beat tapes, a live instrumental album, numerous collaboration albums, two singles with Jack White and numerous other productions (including Danny Brown’s “Really Doe” ft. Kendrick Lamar, Ab Soul and Earl Sweatshirt) later, Black Milk remains one of hip-hop's most prolific artists. Each step of the way, Black has pushed sonic boundaries — starting with a classic soul-sampled sound and evolving it into an opus of live instrumentation, chopped and re-worked into an original amalgamation of funk, soul, jazz, psych rock, gospel, electronic and hip-hop.
Having toured North America, Europe, Australia and Japan, previously with the band Nat Turner and presently as a one-man band, Black has been recognized as a poised performer and one of hip-hop’s most acclaimed live acts.
