About this Event

Hosted by Evelyn Bradley from the United Way of PEI, this panel will feature a diverse array of BIPOC voices from across the Island as we chat about what self-care looks like and how BIPOC folks can better take care of their mental health. This event is for everyone. A free lunch will be provided for attendees from Datcha. This event is made possible with support from the Province of Prince Edward Island's Anti-Racism Micro Grant and the United Way of PEI.

MEET OUR PANELISTS

JASONIQUE MOSS - Born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas, Jasonique Moved to Prince Edward Island after completing her studies in Antigonish Nova Scotia and receiving her degree in Forensic Psychology. Soon after, she began working as the Peer Support Coordinator for The Black Culture Society of PEI.

KEYSHAWN BONAMY - Keyshawn hails from Nassau, Bahamas. In 2016, he embarked on a new chapter in his life by moving to Prince Edward Island to pursue his studies in Economics at the University of Prince Edward Island. Driven by his desire to give back, Keyshawn has consistently demonstrated his commitment to volunteering and community service. He currently holds the position of Executive Director at the Voluntary Resource Council, a role that allows him to utilize his leadership skills to foster collaboration and support various charitable initiatives.

SCOTT ALAN - Scott is a proud 2-Spirit individual, originally from Peguis Treaty 1, now residing in the unceded and never surrendered land of the Mi'kmaq people in Epekwitk. Their transformative journey into self-care was prompted by a distressing experience rooted in toxic masculinity and microaggressions they faced as a queer individual in the brewing industry. Recognizing the detrimental effect this hostile environment had on their overall well-being, they summoned the courage to break free from its confines and seek solace in the world of home-brewing.
