We’re hosting a day of recent films highlighting exemplary Black joy and achievement. Celebrate cinematic work about Hip Hop, urban fashion, and hustle featuring some of the biggest names in music. A special film tribute to Nichelle Nichols (Uhura of Star Trek fame) details her quest to diversify NASA. Then Willy T. Ribbs, a professional race car driver who was the first Black qualifier in the history of the Indy 500, brings us to the finish line.
Drop by and join our in-person film screenings by taking a seat in the Montalbano Family Theatre on level 8 of the Central Library.
The series is possible thanks to Kanopy, a video streaming service for quality, thoughtful entertainment that is available to VPL patrons for free at https://vpl.kanopy.com.
