About this Event

Family legacy is an integral part of the Stenton story and over the last few years, the museum has worked to tell the stories of families of everyone that once lived here. Stenton is excited to partner with Stenton Park Advisory Council to screen the film "Descendant" which documents the search for and historic discovery of The Clotilda, the last known ship to arrive in the United States, illegally carrying 110 kidnapped Africans and the contemporary stories of its descendants.

Kick off Black History Month by learning more about this hidden history from current residents of Africatown, a neighborhood founded by the occupants of the Clotilde and still populated by their descendants today.

Part two of this event series on February 16th will be a family workshop hosted by the African American Genealogy Project to help you learn how to trace and build out your family tree. RSVP .
