Black History Month Celebration & Fundraiser

On behalf of the Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women's Empowerment and in partnership with CIBC, we invite you to join us in celebrating Black History Month on Saturday, February 11.

As part of our annual Black History Month celebrations this year, the Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women's Empowerment is proudly screening, , a documentary film following the life and career of the Hon. Dr. Jean Augustine, at Cineplex Cinemas Queensway on Saturday, February 11 from 9 am to 12 pm.

The event will feature a welcome address by the Hon. Dr. Jean Augustine, performances by JAC’s girls and young women, a screening of the film, and a light breakfast catered by The Art of Catering.

Steadfast tells the story of Canadian icon and Jean Augustine Centre namesake, the Hon. Dr. Jean Augustine, the first Black woman to serve as a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons and the M.P. responsible for introducing the motion to recognize Black History Month in Canada. Individual tickets can be purchased for $40 each. Group Passes are available for $140 and provide admission for up to four people.

Tickets purchased before January 27 will automatically enter you into a draw to win a gift basket a collection of bath and body products for her and him. Each ticket is one entry. Group Passes count for four entries.

You also have an opportunity to purchase Sponsored Individual Tickets to allow girls and young women from the community to attend without the concern of a financial barrier. Sponsored Tickets will receive a tax receipt and double the entries into the draw for the gift basket.

Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Jean Augustine Centre and ensure the continuation of our after-school programs, workshops, and camps for girls and young women throughout the Greater Toronto Area and across Canada.
