Come to our Media Lab gallery on selected dates over the next few weeks to enjoy a series of film screenings linked to this year's Black History Month. All screenings are free with no need to book.
Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September
11am-12pm
Watch a short documentary highlighting the work of three researchers appointed by The Box to interrogate our film and television archives as part of our BFI-supported Reimagining the Film Archive project.
On Saturday 28 September this will be followed by a screening of 'Community Policing' - a documentary that first aired in the Westcountry in 1981, highlighting the lessons that can be learned from other parts of the country, in particular Handsworth in the West Midlands, and a presentation by Discovery Media Assistant, Zahra Khanum. On Sunday 29 September it will be followed by curated package of archive film from The Box's collection.
1pm-2pm
Listen to a recording of writer and journalist, Ekow Eshun, curator of The Time is Always Now: Artists Reframe the Black Figure, in conversation when the exhibition first opened here at The Box in June 2024.
Don't forget The Bazaar, which will be running in Tavistock Place from 10am-4pm on Saturday 28 September with food, crafts, music and more!
Tuesday 1-Sunday 6 October | Tuesday 8-Sunday 13 October | Tuesday 15-Friday 18 October
10am-5pm
View Mother Country I by Daryl Codrington - a film connected to The Box's Windrush in the Far South West project - which will be running on a loop each day.
