The Juneteenth Culture & Community Gathering is a community-centered outdoor experience designed to bring people together through culture, connection, movement, education, recreation, and simply enjoying time outdoors with one another.

As part of Black Hikers Week Detroit, we're putting a different spin on the traditional festival atmosphere. We're creating a space that feels more like a community reunion... where families, friends, hikers, outdoor enthusiasts, and neighbors can come together, relax, learn, connect, and celebrate in a welcoming outdoor environment.

The day will begin with an optional introductory community hike before transitioning into an afternoon filled with activities, educational experiences, outdoor recreation, arts, games, food, and community engagement along Detroit's riverfront. (Registration is required for this hike on www.hikendineevents.com)

Everyone who joins the hike is invited to head directly to the BBQ area afterward to grab a bite to eat, connect with fellow hikers, and enjoy the day's activities. Want to stay awhile? Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, tents, games, coolers, and picnic setup and make yourself at home for the day.

Food will be available at no cost to registered guests with an official event wristband. While supplies last, attendees are welcome to enjoy the provided meal or create their own picnic experience. You're encouraged to make it family-style by bringing your favorite snacks, sides, beverages, or even your own grill. We'll also have a community grill available for anyone who would like to cook their own food on-site.

There will be plenty to enjoy throughout the day, whether you stop by for a few hours or spend the entire afternoon with us.
