The Occasion

Black Genius Illumination Ceremony is a Graduation and Naming Ceremony publicly acknowledging the genius of exemplary Black Parents, conferring upon them the title of Black Parent Leader--and their chosen Village title--which aligns with African traditions of naming oneself as a demonstration of growth, change, and power. This ceremony is open to the public, and an invitation to all Black Caregivers and their families, allies, and supporters. Please join VOW staff in shining a light on Village of Wisdom’s newest Black Parent Leaders, their collective brilliance, and their collective contributions to protecting Black Genius!

Food and music will follow the ceremony and will be lovingly provided by Indulgent Catering and Party Vibez! Graduates will be honored with a keynote address from the esteemed advocate and creative Omisade Burney-Scott, founder of Black Girls Guide to Menopause, an amazing mother of Black Geniuses, and former VOW Board Member.
