The Black Friday Ride – 15th Annual Edition!Are you ready for the biggest, baddest, fastest, and most fun ride of the year? Get set for a Black Friday tradition like no other!
Choose from two route options: 105 miles or 67 miles. This is a large group, fast-paced, drop ride – meaning you’re responsible for your own bike, mechanicals, flats, and safety. Please know the route ahead of time; with the group’s size and speed, we can’t stop for every flat, so come prepared. We’re working on arranging a follow vehicle to help bring riders with mechanical issues back up to the group. Please keep in mind that support capabilities will be limited, so it’s still essential to come prepared with your own tools and spares.
Route Details:
• We’ll split into two groups at mile 19 at an Exxon station.
• 105-mile route: Additional stops at miles 39 and 79.
• 67-mile route: One additional stop at mile 41.
To keep the group together early in the ride, we may roll through some lights if they change while we’re already moving through a green. Use your best judgment and prioritize your comfort. We’ve managed this safely in past years due to the low early-morning traffic.
Let’s look out for each other! We’ll call out for slowing, stopping, and hazards like cracks, potholes, and tracks. Stay mindful of wheel placement—avoid overlapping or half-wheeling. This isn’t the ride to leapfrog for Strava segments. Our goal is to roll together, but we’ll still be riding fast and having a blast! Last year, riders averaged 22 mph with top speeds hitting 35 mph.
Pre-Ride & Post-Ride Details:
• Gristworkz opens at 6:00 a.m. for coffee and pastries. Rollout is at 7:00 a.m. sharp.
• Phillip will be making an appearance at the start—don’t miss the chance to say hello!
• Restrooms are available for emergencies only—arrive ready to ride.
• Post-ride, Gristworkz has food and drinks for purchase. Gristworkz is generously donating a half barrel of La Llorona Lager to support Shama. After the ride, enjoy a cold pint in exchange for a donation amount of your choice, plus food and drinks for purchase.
