Black Decelerant, das Duo von Khari Lucas alias Contour und Omari Jazz, erforscht spirituelle Jazztraditionen durch zeitgenössische Klänge und Texturen und stimmt klangliche Meditationen über Themen wie Schwarzsein und -Nichtsein, Leben und Trauer, Ausweitung und Begrenzung sowie das Individuum und die Gemeinschaft an. Ihr selbstbetiteltes Debütalbum und die Kernintention, die ihrer Zusammenarbeit zugrunde liegt, schaffen einen Raum, in dem die Zuhörerschaft Stille und Trost finden kann, und bieten gleichzeitig eine Grundlage für eine Bewegung über den „Augenblick“ hinaus.

Black Decelerant, the duo of Khari Lucas, aka Contour, and Omari Jazz, explore spiritual jazz traditions through contemporary tone and texture, fostering sonic meditations on themes of Black being and nonbeing, life and mourning, expansion and limitation, and the individual and collective. Their self-titled debut album, and the collaboration’s core intention, inspires a space for listeners to find stillness and solace, while providing a basis for a movement beyond “the moment”.
