Join us at Black Cat – Bar, Coffee & Bottle Shop on Smithdown Road for our next Black Cat Zine Club in Liverpool! This time, we're heading north of the border for an evening celebrating all things Scotland through the magic of zine-making, creativity, community, and glorious DIY nonsense.

We'll be creating handmade zines inspired by Scotland in all its forms — the iconic, the ridiculous, the beautiful, the chaotic, and the deeply specific.

Think Braveheart speeches, Duncan Ferguson two-footers, Andy Robertson overlapping runs, Highland cows with excellent fringes, mysterious lochs, square sausage, tablet, shortbread, haggis, deep-fried delicacies, Bucky-fuelled mountain adventures, tartan overload, bagpipes, castles, folk horror, train journeys, epic bands, ancient myths, and whatever else Scotland means to you.

Want to make a zine ranking every Scottish castle? Go for it. A collage dedicated to Highland coos? Beautiful. A photo zine about your favourite trip to Edinburgh? Perfect. A manifesto about why square sausage is humanity's greatest achievement? We support your vision.

This month's meeting falls on the same evening as England are playing in the World Cup, so World Cup widows and widowers, football fans of every nation, football neutrals, football haters, Scotland obsessives, curious beginners, and seasoned zine goblins are all warmly welcome. The theme is just to make your host - a proud Celt - chuckle, nothing hateful or nasty!

Expect cutting, sticking, folding, drawing, writing, collaging, and general creative silliness. If you'd like to, bring along photos, magazines, tickets, maps, lyrics, poems, football programmes, tartan scraps, or anything else you'd like to include in your zine. No experience needed.

It's 6–9pm on Tuesday 30th June at the same lovely Black Cat location on Smithdown Road. As always, this is a safe, welcoming, and intersectional space. Any meanies, cranks, or anti-fun merchants are not invited.

The event is ticketed because space is limited. There are free tickets available, alongside donation tickets if you'd like to chip in a couple of pounds towards materials and supplies, which are funded out of pocket. Please choose whichever option feels accessible to you — everyone is genuinely welcome. Reach out if the free tickets sell out, but a donation is prohibitive.

All materials are provided — bring yourself and some cash/card for drinks and snacks from the bar.
