In this 3 hour Clay Hand-building sgraffito class, we’ll be making and painting delightful trinket plates that look like your favorite cat.

Use them for trinkets, treats, salt, soy sauce or whatever.

Of course, if YOUR cat isn't black, you can also do a portrait!

Come join me at Mandy Greer Studio in Columbia City for a clay handbuilding workshop, perfect for beginners to clay, but also an enjoyable project for those with some clay experience.

I'll have templates on hand for you to make your shapes, or you can draw your own. We'll be learning the slab and slump method, and embellshing using the sgraffito technique.

You can make as many plates as you want during class time. I estimate you should be able to make 3-4 depending on the sizes you choose. After the pieces are bisque fired, I'll be glazing for you with a matte clear, and firing them to a stoneware cone 6, so they'd be food safe and dishwasher safe.

The plates will be ready to pick up at the studio 2-3 weeks after the class.

CLASS MINIMUM: Five people must be registered for the class to run. Please do share with friends! I tend to cancel classes 7 days ahead if the minimums have not been met, so don't wait until the last minute to register.

AGE/ABILITY: Great for beginners to clay! For adult learners, and children 13 and who attend with a registered adult. 16 and up can attend alone.

Due to class minimums, I do not offer refunds. If you cannot attend on time, please offer your ticket to a friend. You can check with me to see if there is a waitlist. No transfers with a week of class.

WHEN TO ARRIVE:

Please plan to arrive no later than 10 minutes before class, in order to find parking, and make it to the studio no later than the start of class.

Sadly, we cannot accommodate people who arrive late.

Demos start promptly at the start of class time.Due to the structure of class, demos cannot be re-done for late-comers without cutting things out of class for everyone.
