Breastfeeding rates in the Black community remain lower compared to other communities, highlighting the need for increased awareness, support, and education. Black Breastfeeding Week, celebrated August 25–31, 2026, with this year's theme " We All uplifts the importance of breastfeeding while honoring Black families, culture, and community.

In collaboration with the County of Santa Clara Perinatal Equity Initiative (PEI), Roots Community Health Doula program is committed to supporting women through physical fitness, nutrition, and mental wellness, while providing support and working to reduce barriers, implicit bias, and disparities that impact reproductive health and birth outcomes.
