NEW 4K RESTORATION!
A gang of criminals— ironically named the ‘Hero Gang’— are terrorizing Hong Kong with a pair of killer robots: Pioneer 1 and Pioneer 2. When Pioneer 2 gets damaged during a mission, a brilliant inventor working for the police force manages to change her programming. Modelled after the gang’s head female thug Maria, the new code transforms her from a mindless automaton into a walking, talking, Metropolis-inspired robot with budding personality traits.
Directed by David Chung (ROYAL WARRIORS) and featuring an all-star cast including Sally Yeh (THE KILLER), Tony Leung Chiu-Wai (CHUNGKING EXPRESS), Lam Ching-Ying (MR. VAMPIRE) and even producer Tsui Hark himself, I LOVE MARIA (aka as ROBOFORCE) is the late 80’s sci-fi action flick you’ll be bragging to your friends about seeing at the Revue for years to come. (Brandon Lim)
