On March 6th, families and loved ones across the world will display black balloons in remembrance of those who have lost their lives to overdose and other substance-related harms. Overdose Awareness Manitoba will be marking Black Balloon Day by:
- Running a billboard campaign featuring 17 loved ones from February 14 to March 6 on Donald Ave & River Ave in Winnipeg.
- We will be having loved ones name on cardstock at a location in St.James. If you haven’t signed up yet – please sign up on the public OAM page by January 25th. Stay tuned for more details.
- Will be running a national Black Balloon Campaign – full details coming soon.
Leading up to Black Balloon Day we will be dropping graphics that can be shared on social media. We also encourage the public to put up Black Balloon Day posters at their business or in the community. If using actual balloons, please display them for the day and then pop and dispose of them properly - we don’t support balloon releases.
