Join Black Lives Matter DC for Black August Liberation Day, a free, family-friendly community gathering honoring the spirit and legacy of Black August through political education, culture, collective care, community, and Black joy.

Black August is a time to study our history, deepen our political education, build collective power, and honor the freedom fighters who have shaped struggles for Black liberation. Together, we’ll create space to learn, connect, celebrate, and imagine the liberated future we deserve.
