Black Art Library Opening Weekend

Black Art Library’s Grand Opening Weekend is happening October 17th and October 18th at our new permanent location.
About this Event

Founded by Asmaa Walton in 2020, Black Art Library began with a collection of just seven books and a vision to preserve, celebrate, and expand access to Black visual art history. Today, the Detroit-based nonprofit is home to a growing collection of more than 1,000 books, exhibition catalogs, artist monographs, and rare ephemera, serving as a vital educational resource that connects communities to the legacy of Black artists through research, education, and public engagement. Join us for our Grand Opening at Cadillac Art Centre in Detroit's Little Village neighborhood.
