BlackAmericana Fest is a free, one-
day festival that honors and
celebrates the musical heritage,
legacy, and contributions of Black
artists in the Americana and folk
genres in New Orleans and the
Mississippi River Delta region. This
year’s festival will take place on
September 28th at the Broadside in
the historic Tremé neighborhood.
WHY
BLACKAMERICANA?
Currently, there are no festivals in
New Orleans that specifically elevate
the narrative, music and history of
Black artists in the Folk, Country and
Americana traditions.
BlackAmericana Fest answers that
need by providing our city with an
annual platform and dedicated
community space to celebrate this
thriving art form. Through a one-day
festival showcasing the abundant
BlackAmericana talent in our region,
an educational panel uncovering the
Black history of this music in New
Orleans, and a day of community
engagement, we will contribute to
the narrative that New Orleans is a
destination for great Americana
music.
