BKC University
If finding time for training classes with your pup feels impossible, or if you’re looking to strengthen your bond while teaching your dog good behavior, the BKC University Program could be the perfect fit for you!
Our Day School classes are kept small—only 7 to 10 dogs per day and half or more of the dogs are ambassadors- ensuring your dog gets plenty of one-on-one training time, plus fun, matched group play and quiet downtime. You'll also get exclusive access to a private Facebook group, where you'll find helpful training videos and weekly report cards to guide you through training at home. Classes are held once a week, on Thursdays. Graduating dogs can join a monthly membership program for future school days or continue with Agility School on Wednesdays. Please note: Not all dogs will graduate, and your commitment to practicing at home will play a big role in your dog’s success! All teams are welcome to take the program more than once.
Your Curriculum Overview:
Week 1: It’s My Choice! Learn how to use marker cues playing a positive reinforcement game.
Week 2: Focus on collar grabs, leash pressure games, body blocks, and adding distractions to "It's My Choice."
Week 3: Teach your dog not to jump on guests, and practice “stay” to “come,” plus leash walking around distractions.
Week 4: Introduce a platform for placement and shape behavior to a mat. We’ll work on body awareness (front feet up, back feet up, spin left/right) and walking in a circle around your dog in a stay.
Week 5: Off-leash recall game with distractions and adding duration to "stay." Review body awareness and practice pivots and turning around on a ramp.
Week 6: Teach polite greetings with strangers. We’ll review body awareness skills and work on adding distance and distraction to stays.
COST: $325 for 6 weeks Thursdays. Single session drop-ins are available for school days for $55 (no report cards or training vids included).
WHEN: The next session begins July 9th
REGISTER: New clients, please schedule a facility tour to meet me with your dog (services tab). Current BKC students can text "day school" to 406-672-2272 to enroll in the upcoming semester.
