To practice contact improvisation (CI) safely and effortlessly, specific body-mind centering exercises are very helpful for engaging the right invisible body mechanics for learning/refining specific CI techniques beyond the visible forms and movements.

We will use yoga to prepare and center our body and mind while learning and practicing CI techniques during the first hour. This yoga-based pre-jam warmup is intended to help us enter a state of effortless flow during the second hour so participants from all experience levels will be able to enjoy the CI jam safely and fully.

By the end of nine workshops without improvisational cues, participants will

-Acquire a warmup yoga routine that will help address compression and misalignment and strengthen head-tail connections.

-Obtain body-mind conditioning required for using basic CI techniques with proper body mechanics.

During the CI jam, we will also use live sacred sounds and optional gene-key-cues to explore the intersections of contact improvisation with authentic movement, Laban movement analysis, creative arts therapy, and choreography for those interested in using CI for self-development and in participating in a final showcase this summer.

By the end of nine workshops with improvisational cues,

participants will

-Develop an authentic individual and collective repertoire from the inside out.

-Deepen awareness of varying modes of operation that enable direct expressions from the Source as a conscious creator of improvisational dance and/or music.

-Gain clarity on potential blockages (karma) for release and one’s life purpose (dharma) to establish one’s true Being and perform more focused actions.

-Build a movement portfolio as an audition recording for a musical film.

-Apply Laban Movement Analysis to develop characters using gene keys as choreographic/acting principles.

Participants who have completed all nine workshops, one rehearsal, and one showcase can submit audition recordings for paid positions associated with running future workshops and producing the musical film entitled Triune Ascension Origin.

Targeted Audience:

All body types and levels of experience are welcome to join us to fully capture the diversity of the human gene pool through authentic human movements and emotions.

Experienced dancers and aerialists/acrobats with the ability to finetune the co-improvised choreography for ground and/or aerial performances/audition recordings are helpful!
