This is our signature course and the most popular place to start. Aerial yoga works using a U shaped soft fabric hammock closer to the ground than the other more circus styles of aerial, and offers a balanced class suitable for most abilities.Aerial yoga aims to use traditional yoga poses but in a fun way, going deeper into stretches, mastering supported inverts and building moves into a flow. All poses in aerial yoga are focussed on having a physical benefit rather than simply looking pretty, be that a spinal release, core strength building or just a great hamstring stretch. In this class you will learn to work with the fabric to increase flexibility and strength, lengthen and stretch the back and enjoy a deep relaxation to close.
Our aerial yoga is a slightly more relaxed atmosphere than the energy of the aerial circus styles. Aerial yoga is suitable for most abilities and is adaptable to accommodate many health conditions.
Working one person to each hammock we will work with both grounded and air based movements to move your body in new ways. There is no shared equipment in this course allowing students to flow from pose to pose. Teens 11+ are welcome with a participating adult over the age of 18, and 16+ may attend unaccompanied, however this is an adult class and under 16s may not attend unaccompanied. Our aerial arts classes have a 21 stone/133kg weight limit.
This is a more challenging physical class than traditional yoga, please get in touch if you have a health condition that could limit your participation. If you are reasonably fit and healthy (able to climb stairs, lift a heavy box, walk unaided then this class should suit most people but you will work hard!). This class is not suitable to begin if you have active current vertigo, herniated or bulging spinal disks, glaucoma, arthritis which significantly limits your grip, are currently pregnant with no previous aerial experience or are within 6 weeks of giving birth. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive studio and welcome students beyond these safety limitations regardless of body type, fitness levels, physical limitations or disabilities or other restrictions. A free carers place is available for anyone who requires assistance to access our classes and is in receipt of middle or higher rate DLA or PIP. Please get in touch to discuss how we can ensure our classes are inclusive of your needs.
