About this Event

The Ceilidh on Friday, June 16, 2023, in the Irish Cultural Centre at 582 North River Road will feature award-winning island folk music group Fiddlers’ Sons, featuring Eddy Quinn, John B. Webster and guest fiddler Allison Giggey.

There will be a 50/50 draw during the evening at the air-conditioned, wheelchair accessible and licensed hall. Doors open at 7, show starts at 8. The best Ceilidh lunch on PEI is served during the intermission. The admission price is $15 at the door. Children twelve and under remain at $5.

Eddy is the lead vocalist, as well as playing guitar and Bodhran. He has released two solo albums, for which he has received four PEI Music Awards. In 2017 the band marked the anniversary of twenty years in the music business with the release of a compilation album of their most requested songs. Fiddlers' Sons: The Best of Twenty Years contains 22 selections written and performed by the band members that explore Island life and its people.

John B. Webster is the group's lead guitarist and backup vocalist. John B. grew up on the Station Road in Cardigan. He was interested in music from an early age, and his home was always filled with it. His father, Jackie was a fiddle player and his grandfather Jack had a band called "Jack Webster's Orchestra" which played all over Kings County and was extremely popular in their time. He met Eddy Quinn at guitar lessons in Lorne Valley, and the rest is history. John has done quite a lot of writing on the five CDs Fiddlers' Sons have released.

Allison Ling Giggey has been entertaining crowds across P.E.I., Canada, and the U.K. for almost 20 years, including spending eight summers as a musician at Avonlea Village in Cavendish. Her 2003 recording 'Wake the Affections' with vocalist Maria McDougall was nominated for a P.E.I. Music award.

For twenty-three of their more than twenty-six years together, Fiddlers' Sons have been playing their brand of grassroots music to packed houses at The Benevolent Irish Society.

Ticket sales are at the door, first-come, first-serve. For more information, call 902-314-8840. The hall is always at capacity for this popular group, so come early to make sure you get a seat
