About Birthed from Rain and River
Combining live and prerecorded sound, the work has grown from conversations and workshops with queer people in Manchester and Oulu, Finland. Choral songs co-created by residents in each city, solo songs inspired by interviews, and rich tapestries of spoken word come together in different forms across both cities.
Birthed from Rain and River Project developed by SICK! The programme connects directly to the ‘From Here To Art Travel Agency’ concept produced by Kulttuuriosuuskunta ILME. Presented in 2026 as part of Oulu 2026 European Capital of Culture, Oulu Pride and in Manchester as part of SICK! The collaboration is made possible with support from The Finnish Institute in the UK and Ireland.
