In this 8-hour Birth Essentials series, you will learn foundational information about the birth process, stages of labor, external signs of progress, breastfeeding and early newborn care, and postpartum recovery. You'll practice coping techniques, relaxation activities, and labor positions.
Taught by Heidi Duncan, a Birth Doula and Childbirth Educator with 25 years of professional experience, this course will help you glean the knowledge she has gained supporting hundreds of families during labor and birth in every setting.
You will benefit from this class whether you are giving birth at home, in a birth center, or in a hospital. You'll learn about both natural and medical options for managing pain and labor progress.
Classes will meet in the Community Room at Clarksville Midwifery, 225 Dunbar Cave Road, Clarksville, TN 37043. This class is focused on community birth (home and birth center) but is open to those planning a hospital birth as well. You will be well-prepared regardless of where you plan to birth!
The $150 ticket covers attendance for the birthing person and a partner for the weekend sessions of two 4-hour days. We will break for a 1-hour lunch midday.
Each family will receive a full-color Preparing For Birth workbook.
