Dionysus is a God of many facets. Some may know him as the God of wine and merrymaking and it’s not hard to see why that has become one of his most popular aspects. But along with the feasting and indulgence he also brings divine madness. And further still he stands for liberation and rebellion against the social and gender based norms that are so often forced upon us. Tales of Dionysus are tales of joy and freedom, tales of blood and tales of the extremes of human nature.
This evening, Sarah Dovey will explore the many aspects of Dionysus by telling stories of his life, his loves and his vengeance.
