About this Event
Birmingham City Council is hosting a civic event at the Council House Banqueting Suite on Tuesday 17th March to mark International Women’s Day (8th March) and to reaffirm our city’s commitment to protecting women and girls from violence, abuse, and harm.
Earlier this year, the Birmingham Community Safety Partnership launched its Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Strategy, setting out a strengthened, citywide approach to preventing abuse, tackling misogyny and violence, and improving support for survivors. Alongside this, the Council continues to deliver its Domestic Abuse Prevention Strategy 2024+, ensuring a coordinated response to domestic abuse, enhancing early intervention, and improving safety and outcomes for survivors.
This event brings together partners, stakeholders, professionals, and community voices to share the work underway across Birmingham to keep women safe. We invite you to join us, listen to survivors, and connect with colleagues working to protect women across the city.
Event Highlights:
· Updates on Birmingham’s VAWG Strategy and Domestic Abuse Prevention Strategy, including prevention work, survivor support, enforcement, and partnership activity.
· Speeches and insights from frontline services, specialist organisations, and local leaders.
. Getting your views and insights on working together to ensure women and girls are kept safe in Birmingham.
· Opportunity for networking through a marketplace area hosting organisations that provide support, advice, and resources for women and girls across Birmingham.
Refreshments will be provided.
