Join MA Master Gardener Joan Butler as she discusses creating welcoming habitats for birds through thoughtful landscape choices that include native plants vital for food and nesting sites. Learn the joys and benefits of designing beautiful, layered gardens that bring avian wildlife right into your backyard.
Joan is an avid gardener and plant collector who believes gardens should invite you to linger in the world outside your door. She has presented programs at botanic gardens, horticultural societies, flower shows, and numerous libraries and garden clubs across the Northeast. She has long been passionate about the natural world.
Joan Butler holds a degree in Geology from UMass Amherst and a Certificate in Landscape Management from the UMass Extension Green School. She is a retired horticulturist and backyard birder. Joan is a former chairman of the Massachusetts Landscape Design Council, a member of the Garden Consultants Council, and an accredited Flower Show Judge. She is also past president of the Holliston Garden Club.
