About this Event
Birds of the Boroughs” by local artist Becca Hoodless is a collection of paintings inspired by birds she has spotted in green spaces around South London.
Since moving to the capital, Becca has been incredibly surprised by the variety of birds she has encountered. This began with her daily commute to work via a small woodland and lake, and encouraged her to explore many more pockets of nature within the local boroughs. She began recognising and noticing patterns in the birds' calls, witnessed chicks become juveniles, and certain species appearing and disappearing as they migrate.
Each bird has been painted onto wooden offcuts, sustainably sourced and given a second life. Every painting is based on a bird she has seen in real life. Discovering these green spaces and connecting with nature has transformed Becca’s daily life, and she now genuinely looks forward to getting outdoors and wandering to work, regardless of the weather!
All works are available to purchase.
