This walk is every second Thursday of the month, 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM at Mission Garden. Meet inside the front gate.
FREE--no RSVP required
Walk around beautiful Mission Garden with one of the garden's expert birders. We'll look for seasonal and resident birds and learn to identify some common calls and songs. Some of the over-wintering birds have arrived. The garden is a good place for beginning and intermediate birders to learn about many of the birds common to the greater Tucson area. Check in with Kevin (the resident roadrunner). We always check the hummingbird feeder to see who is visiting!
Take the opportunity to learn about the birds and other wildlife that would have been around through thousands of years of local agricultural history on the historic floodplain of the Santa Cruz River.
This month, as a special treat when the walk ends, bird watchers can visit Citan the Harris’s hawk! Citan was at Critter Night in August and wanted to come back and visit the garden! Handler and wildlife rehabber Alan Tasky will be with Citan to answer questions.
Event is free but your monetary gifts are always appreciated and they keep the garden growing.
