Birds of Duke Farms (Migration Season)

Join Seasonal Educator Toni on a guided birdwatching walk around Duke Farms to learn about some basic yet useful bird ID tips!
About this Event

We’ve heard the question before: What’s that bird? We have many types at Duke Farms, and this guided walk will teach you easy, useful bird ID tips while looking at some common species in the area. But with fall migration season in swing, there’s a chance to see something rare or passing over from other parts of the country!

 

We will also be logging our observations onto eBird, a community science tool that keeps track of when and how often different species appear. Binoculars will be provided, but feel free to bring your own gear!

 

We will be meeting first behind the Farm Barn Orientation Center before departing for our program! This class involves traveling about 1 mile on mixed (paved and unpaved) surfaces, with participants moving for the entire duration. Most program routes can be adapted to accommodate mobility needs.

All programs begin at the Farm Barn Orientation Center unless otherwise noted.

Registration is required. Please let us know if you are no longer able to attend so your space can be offered to someone else. Cancellations received at least 48 hours in advance are eligible for a refund, if applicable.

Programs at Duke Farms are held rain or shine, but in the event of severe or impeditive weather, classes may be canceled. Email notice will be given as early as possible via email and refunds will be issued in the case of cancellations.
