Birding Ballona with Feminist Bird Club LA x Friends of Ballona Wetlands!

We hope you'll join us for a morning of birding in collaboration with the Feminist Bird Club of LA and Friends of Ballona Wetlands! We'll keep our eyes peeled for special species like Least Bitterns, Yellow-crowned Night Herons, and Peregrine Falcons, and should see plenty of passerines, swallows, and waterfowl.
This is a beginner-friendly event and all are welcome. Space is limited, so please be sure to RSVP.
WHERE TO MEET & PARKING: We will embark at 8 am from the Ballona Discovery Park in Playa Vista, at . There is adequate street parking in front of the park, in the neighboring elementary school and sports parking lot, and in the neighborhood. If you have trouble finding us on the day of the event, please give Maggie a call or text at (203) 984-6690.
ACCESSIBILITY: We will begin at the Ballona Discovery Park and head together to the Ballona Freshwater Marsh. The Ballona Discovery Park is a fully ADA accessible space with packed decomposed granite paths. There are 5 steep steps with no handrail to enter the Marsh, where there is a packed woodchip trail. Depending on the tour attendees, timing, and the heat, we will end the tour sooner or later--safety is our number one priority! We estimate that the tour is about 2 miles round trip, but again, that may be adjusted depending on a variety of factors.
WHAT TO BRING: Bring binoculars if you have them (we will also have some to lend).
