Join Everyday Akron at Summit Lake (meet at 411 Ira Ave., Akron at 8 a.m.) for a morning of birding and nature photography. Megan and Joe — Everyday Akron team members — will lead us in both, as they’re passionate about their respective hobbies.
Explore a new-to-you neighborhood, make a new friend, shout “GOOSE!” at literally every bird you see — there’s something for everyone at this FREE event.
We'll start at Summit Lake Nature Center, then walk around the lake to see what we can spot. This area is great for all sorts of waterfowl, including mergansers and cormorants!
We'll make frequent stops for bird watching, photography lessons on phones/cameras, and binocular lessons. Bring your questions and the spirit to explore! This event is open to folks of all skill levels and access needs.
Items to bring:
🔹 Good boots/shoes for walking
🔹 Binoculars
🔹 Film or digital camera or even a phone camera
🔥 Pro tip: If you’re bringing a camera that can change lenses, the longer your lens focal length, the better! Don’t forget a fully charged battery and an empty memory card.
🔹 Weather-related items (sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, umbrella, scarf, etc.)
🔹 Water and snacks
🔹 Walking stick
