About this Event

Connect to birds through art and their afterlives, as you learn about bird taxidermy and drawing. We will start our event with a bird taxidermy demonstration by Divya Anantharaman of Gotham Taxidermy, who will share the technical and philosophical aspects of their practice, taxidermy as an act of reverence. Afterwards, SamSam Graves, an artist, educator, birder, will guide us to draw birds from taxidermy, with special attention to details we can observe through stillness and closeness unique to specimens.

This event takes place at The Gowanus Studio Space (166 7th St, Brooklyn, NY 11215).

Entry is through a ground floor door with a few steps, but ramp access is available upon request.

Seating is available, please let us know if you'd like specific seating reserved. Restrooms are available in the studio. Please, no food, gum, or candy during the taxidermy demonstration (food after the taxidermy demonstration is ok!).
All taxidermy study skins are sustainably sourced. No animals are harmed for the sake of art.
