Bird Sit & Slow Birding at Redwood Regional Park

Join the SF Bay Area chapter of the Feminist Bird Club for some slow birding at Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park. We'll start with a bird sit and guided meditation led by Judy Smith (around 30 minutes). Afterwards, we'll slowly meander down the Stream Trail to see who we can see and hear. Expect some silent listening time, mindfulness exercises, and discussions on accessible birding.

All are welcome. The Feminist Bird Club strives to host birding events that are welcoming and inclusive for all people - full stop. Our goal is less about nailing the largest species checklist and more about building community with each other, by making sure that everyone feels safe and respected.

We will have binoculars to share and as always, all abilities are welcome, especially beginners!
Getting here: We are meeting at the Canyon Meadow Staging Area, which has a $5 parking fee. Service can be spotty, so make sure to have our contact info on hand and directions downloaded before you leave. This site is not easily accessible by public transit, so please let us know if you are interested in carpooling.

Accessibility: The Canyon Meadow Staging Area has accessible parking, and the Stream Trail is paved and mostly level. There are also picnic benches and water fountains at regular intervals along the trail (see park map for exact placement). We will be moving at a slow pace, and likely cover no more than 1 mile round trip. Bathrooms: There is an accessible flush bathroom at the parking lot and 1 bathroom with limited access near the play area. Additional non-accessible bathrooms are located along the trail.

COVID Policy: We are now requiring that all attendees wear a mask to our events. As we'll be outdoors, surgical/cloth masks and valved N95s/KN95s are acceptable - use whatever works best for your needs! We will also have surgical masks on hand.
