About this Event
Dandelions Rising is a program (for ages 7-18) that aims to create opportunities for BIPOC youth to develop peer networks, celebrate their identities, learn their histories, and culture, and creatively heal to improve long-term inequities that are rife within our community.
This Spring semester of activities includes engaging, joy-centered, hands-on, playful and cullturally affirming, joy filled curriculum.
This spring, the Dandelions Rising Program will blossom into a powerful season of growth, creativity, and collective healing for BIPOC youth and their families. Rooted in empowerment and resiliency, the Spring 2026 curriculum is designed to honor identity, strengthen voice, and nurture well-being—mind, body, and spirit.
Participants will embark on a journey of cultural exploration through art, using visual storytelling, creative design, and ancestral traditions to celebrate who they are and where they come from. Art becomes both a mirror and a megaphone—reflecting lived experiences while amplifying pride, heritage, and imagination.
Recognizing the importance of holistic wellness, the program centers mindful healing practices that support mental and emotional health. Through grounding yoga sessions and restorative sound baths, youth and families will learn tools for stress relief, emotional regulation, and inner balance—skills that support resilience far beyond the classroom.
Dandelions Rising also equips families with critical knowledge and confidence to navigate school systems. Youth- and parent-led workshops will focus on advocacy for student rights, empowering participants to speak up, ask questions, and partner effectively with schools to ensure equitable and supportive educational experiences.
Health equity is another cornerstone of the curriculum. Through engaging and age-appropriate activities, participants will explore health disparities and disease prevention, learning how systemic inequities impact communities of color while discovering fun, active ways to care for their bodies. Movement, play, and preventative wellness practices make learning about health both accessible and empowering.
Finally, the semester will culminate in bold self-expression through performing arts. Whether through dance, spoken word, music, or theater, participants will transform their stories into powerful performances—building confidence, collaboration, and joy while reclaiming their voices on stage.
Like dandelions pushing through concrete, the Dandelions Rising Program nurtures strength in places where it’s often underestimated. Spring 2026 is not just a semester—it’s a season of rising, healing, and thriving together. 🌼
