About this Event
Bipoc Cinema Revue
Presented by the Kentucky BIPOC Filmmakers Association (KBFA) We are at a pivotal moment in American cultural history and film has always been a lens through which our stories are told, celebrated, and preserved. The BIPOC Cinema Revue offers a multimedia and educational journey through the history of cinema by people of color, spanning from the very beginnings of film to today. This first installment will highlight the powerful legacies of American Indigenous, Asian, Latino, and Black filmmakers, exploring the trailblazers who opened doors, the cultural impact of their work, and the future implications for these diasporas in film and beyond. More than just a screening, this event is an opportunity to learn, reflect, and engage. Together, we will respectfully examine how to consume and celebrate films from diverse cultural backgrounds while honoring the artists who created them. Our goal is to entertain, uplift our stories, raise cultural wellness in film, and spark meaningful engagement across Louisville and Kentucky. All are welcome ...whether you are a film enthusiast, a student of history, or someone curious about how cinema shapes culture, you will leave with new insights and appreciation.
