Join us for BIOSIGNAL / BLACKOUT, the culminating public event of Mirrored Glass's Pulse of the City program.
Co-produced by Shawescape Renegade and Mirrored Glass, BIOSIGNAL / BLACKOUT is an immersive Detroit Jit and techno theater production that merges live performance, interactive technology, electronic music, visual art, and audience engagement to explore health, wellness, and access within Detroit's creative community.
Through a dynamic interplay of movement, sound, and responsive media, the production investigates the signals that connect our bodies, communities, and environments, and what happens when those connections are disrupted. Audiences are invited into a living, interactive experience where technology responds to human presence, performance becomes dialogue, and collective participation shapes the unfolding work.
Rooted in Detroit's rich traditions of innovation and cultural expression, BIOSIGNAL / BLACKOUT features powerful Detroit Jit performances by Mike Manson and King Lamar. The evening also includes live painting by Abu Haqqim, creating a visual record of the experience in real time.
With stage direction by Sam White and sound by Ensound System, the production brings together a multidisciplinary team of Detroit artists working across performance, music, visual art, and technology to imagine new possibilities for collective care and creative sustainability.
As the culminating event of Pulse of the City, BIOSIGNAL / BLACKOUT reflects on the challenges and opportunities facing artists and cultural workers today while celebrating the power of art to foster connection, healing, and transformation.
