Bioluminescence Paddle Tour

You will be amazed as every movement of water created by you, your paddle craft, and swimming sea creatures, produces a stunning fluorescent glow! Jumping mullet look like underwater fireworks, and your splashing paddle is like neon paint splatter!  This is a night paddle on the Space Coast, one of the few places on earth this occurs - no need to travel to Puerto Rico or Thailand! The beautiful, vibrant trail of light is created by tiny natural organisms called dinoflagellates that thrive during the warmest summer months, making this a seasonal tour.  This adventure is super unique, will captivate, and leave you buzzing for days!

We'll meet at the kayak launch at the Cocoa Beach Country Club/Community Center. After a safety briefing we'll match you with quality, fitted gear and get on the water. Then we'll paddle the shallow waterway, enjoying the bioluminescent glow below and the starry sky above.

Tour Duration: 90 minutes, about 1.5-2 mi. This paddle is all about enjoying the bioluminescence and is not a fast-paced or endurance event.  *Although we try to stick to our schedule, the end time is subject to change depending on the pace of the group.

Time: Meet at 8:45p to launch by 9p. If you're bringing your own gear, arrive as early as needed to be ready by 8:45p.

All Ages and Paddle Craft Welcome. Kids 12 and under may ride along free with a paying guardian.

Paddling Skill Level: Intermediate. Previous stand up paddleboarding experience is required as we want you to be comfortable and confident paddling in the dark for an enjoyable experience. To schedule a Was'SUP?! Beginner's lesson before this event, please call/text Jessica at 850-445-8348. Participants must know how to swim.

Bring: Water, towel, dry bag, dry change of clothes. If you're bringing your own paddle craft, a life vest, light and whistle are required by law.

Wear: clothing that is easy to move in and can get wet (like dry wicking workout clothes or swimwear, bug spray. There are no-see-ums - we recommend wearing lightweight long sleeves and pants to cover up.

Location/Parking/Restroom: Turn left into the Cocoa Beach Country Club parking lot, following the signs to "Kayak." Go all the way to the back/east side of the lot and the launch is there. We'll greet you near the picnic tables - I have a silver enclosed trailer. There are other tour companies on site, so be sure to check in with Wave of Wellness. There are no public restrooms open in the evening, stop somewhere on A1A before turning on Minuteman - there are plenty of convenience stores along A1A.

IMPORTANT: In the event of inclement weather, you will be notified via Eventbrite email at least 3 hours prior to start time of a reschedule. We only reschedule so your experience will be safe and enjoyable.

Guide: Jessica Cichra is a SUP enthusiast that has been actively paddle touring, racing, surfing, and instructing since 2009. She is the founder of Wave of Wellness, a company with a mission to empower clients through adventurous activities that enhance all areas of well-being with a focus on travel, SUP, yoga, and community. Jessica guides paddle tours in the greater Orlando area and internationally on adventure travel retreats. She is also an industry representative as a sponsored ambassador/athlete for Werner Paddles and Local Honey Designs.

***Because we can't control nature, bioluminescence visibility is not guaranteed. However, we take you the locations it's most concentrated, and on evenings where there is less external light from the moon for a high chance of visibility. Location and date are subject to change.
