Join us for an evening packed with surprising science, beautiful biodiversity, and stories that will change the way you look at the natural world.🎤 TALK 1 — Menno Schilthuizen
"Don't Be A Snail!
How modern life forces slow gastropods to evolve rapidly"
The garden snail (Cepaea) is one of Europe's most beautiful snails. Its shell colours have inspired geneticists and ecologists for more than a century. But now, the old-time favourite is taking up a new role: it helps us understand how wild animals adapt to climate change and environmental upheaval.
🎤 TALK 2 — Jessica Awad
“Galls, dark taxa, and the many mysteries of parasitoid wasps.”
The tiniest and most mysterious insects are nearly invisible to the naked eye, but they can leave conspicuous and fascinating evidence in the form of plant galls. These bizarre growths, each housing a miniature ecosystem of unusual creatures, have much to reveal about the unknown biodiversity all around us.
* Talks are in English
* Free entrance, as always
