Biointensive Gardening Workshop in Downtown Sonora

Location
60 1/3 Stewart st. | Sonora, CA
About this Event
October 15, Saturday, 11am to 3:30pm
Join gardener extraordinaire, Chris Montesano, at his home garden for a great learning experience. Chris has been an organic biointensive gardener and gardening teacher for over 30 years. He believes that biointensive gardening can help with the climate crisis while letting us grow year-round healthy organic food. (Biointensive gardening does not use fertilizers or pesticides or any petroleum products to produce the food. It uses composted material mostly from yard waste and food scraps.)
Some activities will include “double digging” old garden beds, saving Italian bean seeds, shredding and single-digging, adding compost, planting garlic, kale, onions, carrots, spinach, collards and peas. Each participant gets a free healthy lunch compliments of Blue Zones Project—Tuolumne County and fresh garlic to take home for cooking.
This workshop will include hands-on activities. Please bring your own shovel and trowel.
Space is limited to ten gardeners. Group will meet at the downtown Sonora community parking lot at Stewart Street and Lyons Street to walk 2 blocks to the demonstration garden.
Please RSVP with Blue Zones Project @ 209-694-3217 or here on Eventbrite.
