Biodiversity event with Nature Alberta

Discover Biodiversity at Rundle Park

Nature Alberta, Root for Trees and Invasive Plant Outreach invite you to a fun and educational evening to celebrate the biodiversity in the River Valley at Rundle Park (parking map below). Bring your own mug as we have hired 'The Mule' from the Colombian to provide you with free coffee or tea!

Activities (rotating schedule):

• Community science nature walk
• Tree planting workshop
• Invasive W**d pulling workshop

Event Highlights:

• Learn about local plants and animals.
• Participate in hands-on conservation activities.
• Explore the beauty of Edmonton's River Valley.
• Connect with other City of Edmonton programs such as Partners in Parks and Community Forestry

Registration:

Please arrive by 5:30 PM to register, visit exhibitor tents and get complimentary coffee or tea from ‘The Mule’ (The Columbian Coffee Truck). Please bring your own mug.

The event features three rotating 30 minute workshops. Be sure to arrive on time so you can visit all three!

Wear closed toed shoes if you would like to participate in the planting activity.

Bring clothing layers appropriate to the weather

Please bring a reusable mug or cup for complimentary tea or coffee!

5:30 p.m. - Registration and exhibitor tents, The Colombian Coffee Truck "The Mule"

6:00 to 6:45 p.m. - First Workshop (nature walk, planting or invasive plant pulling)

6:50 to 7:35 p.m. - Second Workshop (nature walk, planting or invasive plant pulling)

7:40 to 8:25 p.m. - Third Workshop (nature Walk, planting or invasive plant pulling)

Root for Trees plants rain or shine! In the event of severe weather, volunteer plantings may be shortened or cancelled for staff and public safety.

Severe weather conditions that would necessitate cancellation include:

• Thunderstorms or lightning
• Temperature equal to or above 34°C, including the Humidex
• Wind, including gusts, of over 45 km/h
• An air quality health index (AQHI) of 7 or above

The City of Edmonton retains the right to modify or cancel the planting in the case of inclement weather and public safety. Please check our webpage for up to date information.

PLEASE NOTE: if this event is cancelled due to weather, we will hold it on Friday June 12 at 5:00pm at the same location!

Please see map image below for location. Find us by the Roundabout near the "North Toboggan Hill" in Rundle Park. Parking is available in the parking lot.
