Discover the systemic aspect of biodiversity erosion through a fun, collaborative workshop.
About this Event

In 2022, on the eve of COP15, eleven universities and two CEGEPs committed to a biodiversity approach and joined the “Nature Positive University” (NPU) alliance, developed by the United Nations Environment Programme and Oxford University. As a follow-up to this commitment, Quebec's higher education institutions have decided to organize a large number of Biodiversity Frescoes in the fall of 2024, on the eve of COP16, to raise awareness of biodiversity issues among as many people as possible.

What is the Biodiversity Collage Workshop?

The Biodiversity Collage is a scientific, fun and collaborative activity aimed at discovering the systemic aspect of biodiversity erosion.

During this 3-hour workshop, in teams of 5 to 7 people, you will :

  • recreate an ecosystem and discover the impact of a disturbance on it,
  • find the links between the cards to understand what biodiversity is, what it contributes and what degrades it,
  • decorate and title your fresco to present your work to the other teams, and
  • think collectively about the actions you could take to preserve it.

Program

  • 17:45 - Welcome of participants
  • 18:00 - Start of workshop
  • 21:00 - End of workshop

The Biodiversity Collage is inspired by the Climate Fresk. Its content is largely based on reports and data from the IPBES (Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services), known as the IPCC of biodiversity.
