About this Event

- Event Information: Biodiversity and Resilience in Changing Times: A Cool Boulder Hike at Chautauqua Park with Lynne Yankee

- When: Friday, June 9th; 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

- Where: Hike will begin at the Chautauqua Park Ranger Cottage; Kinnikinnick Road & Clematis Drive, Boulder, CO 80302 (Chautauqua Park; 900 Baseline Road &, 9th Street, Boulder, CO 80302)

- What: Cool Boulder is excited to offer you a fascinating exploration of the rich, vibrant biological diversity present within the Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) lands. On this hike we’ll learn why such diversity is present, and consider its role in our communities' and ecosystems' adaptability and resilience amid changing climate and challenging times. Join local interpretive naturalist Lynne Sullivan, who enjoys delving into the deep and ancient wisdom nature has to share with us! Through these lenses we will consider how we can nurture diversity on these lands we cherish, and within our own lives.

- Notes: Please bring appropriate layers, water, snacks and sunscreen for this slow to moderate paced exploration along moderately difficult trails, for 1.5 to 2 miles. This hike is best suited for children aged 8 years and up, with an adult. Please arrive with enough time to find parking. This event is free, but you must register on this Eventbrite page to attend the hike.

Cool Boulder is a community-led campaign that brings the city, local organizations and people of Boulder together in partnership with nature to address the climate crisis. The campaign is focused on three action areas: regenerating absorbent landscapes, expanding tree canopies and creating connected networks of pollinator habitat. These natural climate solutions foster biodiversity and healthy soils, while absorbing carbon and cooling our city. Explore this work and opportunities to get involved at coolboulder.org.
