Join biochar expert Kelvin Williams for a discussion on how biochar is made and how you can use it to reduce environmental waste, improve your soil and create your own slow release fertiliser.
Kelvin joins us from Black Diamond Biochar, which manufactures high grade activated biochar for garden use, and is also a senior committee member of Maccy Biochar, a cooperative on the Fleurieu Peninsula that sources waste products and converts them into 100% carbon.
Kelvin will take us through the process of producing biochar and explain how we can make the product with very little environmental impact. He'll then explain the benefits of biochar for carbon sequestration and building soil structure, a very necessary practice in poor soil environments like those around the Port.
We'll also discuss how activated biochar is produced and how to incorporate it into your fertilizing and soil improving program.
There will be time for questions and answers after the talk, and the opportunity to purchase biochar products afterwards, made right here in SA by Kelvin and the team at Black Diamond Biochar. Look out for the special deal/s on the day!
