Welcome to the BioBlitz at Heartwood Preserve!

This weeklong event brings together scientists, educators, naturalists, and nature enthusiasts to explore, observe, and record the biological inventory of our preserve.

We are looking for eager individuals to help lead the way!

Ways to Get Involved:

• Field Explorers – Families, students, and nature enthusiasts.
• Field Team Leaders – Lead teams and support field explorers.
• Remote iNaturalist Identifiers – Assist with species identification online in the iNaturalist App through the Identify Page.

Event Dates: November 15-22, 2025

Kickoff Celebration: November 15, 2025, at 9:00 AM

• Welcome breakfast, iNaturalist training, safety protocols, and team organization.

BioBlitz Week – November 15 – 22

• Explore designated sites, record observations, and collaborate in person or remotely with team.

Special Night Hike – November 21

• 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM: A guided nocturnal nature walk and blacklight moth viewing station.

Wrap-up Celebration – November 22 @ 4:00 PM

• Pizza party, share discoveries, tally species, and win prizes!
