Bing in the New Year

Bing in the New Year returns to downtown Milwaukie 6-9 p.m. Dec. 31 at the Milwaukie Farmers Market lot, 10723 SE Main St. This free, family-friendly event includes food, vendors, beer, music and Chinese cultural performances, culminating with the lowering of a lighted 7-foot Bing cherry at an "East Coast midnight." The event celebrates Ah Bing, the namesake of the Bing cherry, which was first cultivated in Milwaukie in the late 1800s.
