Bin Sharifu Lecture (RefLex Annual Lecture)
The RefLex Centre for Advanced Studies is pleased to invite you to the inaugural Bin Sharifu Lecture, delivered this year by B.S. Chimni (O.P. Jindal Global Law School).
B.S. Chimni is a Professor of International Law at O.P. Jindal Global Law School, India and a founding voice of Third World Approaches to International Law (TWAIL). His work interrogates the historical and structural inequalities embedded in the international legal order, with particular attention to how doctrines and institutions reproduce hierarchies. In 2023 he delivered the Hersch Lauterpacht Memorial Lecture at the University of Cambridge.

About the Bin Sharifu Lecture
The lecture is named in honour of Mdachi bin Sharifu, a lecturer at Humboldt-Universität's "Seminar für Orientalische Sprachen" who, in 1919/20, spoke publicly across Germany against colonial violence, racist penal practice, and forced labour in the German colonies.
